About The Song

You Won’t See Me is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1965 album Rubber Soul. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. As with songs such as “We Can Work It Out” and “I’m Looking Through You” from the same period, the lyrics address McCartney’s troubled relationship with Jane Asher and her desire to pursue her career as a stage and film actress.

The song is a plea from a lover to their partner, asking them to reconsider their decision to end their relationship. McCartney sings about the pain of losing the time they have already spent together and the fear of losing his mind if she does not see him again. He also expresses his frustration with her refusal to listen to his pleas.

“You Won’t See Me” is a beautifully crafted song with a haunting melody and moving lyrics. It is one of McCartney’s finest compositions and a highlight of the Rubber Soul album.

Interesting fact: The song was never performed live by the Beatles, but McCartney has played it many times during his solo career.
